CLARKSTON - The Asotin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a theft of thousands of dollars worth of copper from a Clarkston business.

According to court documents, a burglary was reported on Saturday at approximately 3:45 a.m. at Lazer Heating and Air Conditioning on 13th Street in Clarkston. Approximately $6,000 to $8,000 dollars worth of copper tubing was stolen. The alleged offenders then salvaged the stolen property at Sutton Salvage in Lewiston on the following Monday.

Asotin County deputies used various video surveillance footage from Lazer Heating, along with photograph and receipt evidence from Sutton Salvage, to identify 23-year-old Kenneth Harper.

A second offender was later identified as 18-year-old Zaryc James Moran-Stotz, who had been arrested in Lewiston on Monday morning after a theft of various items from a gas station on 16th Avenue. Court documents say he could be seen in video allegedly holding a pistol in his right hand during the copper theft. The gun matched the description of a pistol he had in his possession during the Lewiston arrest, which would eventually lead police to connect him to the copper theft. He was seen in the copper theft video allegedly wearing the same ski mask, gloves and striped hooded sweater that he was found with during the Lewiston arrest.

According to court documents, a third male suspect who was driving the vehicle used during the copper theft has not yet been identified.

As of Thursday morning, Harper was in custody in the Asotin County Jail. Moran-Stotz was still in the Nez Perce County Jail.

The two that have been identified are being charged with First Degree Burglary, Theft in the First Degree and Trafficking in Stolen Property. If the third suspect is identified and arrested, they will face the same charges.
